It is a great honour for Fondazione Italiani to contribute as co-organiser to the Common European Security Conference in Prague.
This is a particular moment in the history of Europe, confirmed by the coincidence of this Conference in Prague with the meeting of the European leaders in Bratislava, a time, Ladies and Gentlemen, at which important decision for a safe future of our continent and our people are in urgent need.
The conference in Prague marks the third important milestone of the cooperation of Fondazione Italiani with the New Policy Forum, after the conference in Berlin in 2014, during the celebration of the fall of the Berlin wall, where I had the great honour to personally meet Mikhail Gorbachev and start our common journey, and the Climate Change Symposium, held in Rome last year in May under the scientific direction of Martin Lees.
We have given a specific name to our joint activities, “Romasymposium”, which shall be a brand for high level and influential events.
The cooperation of Fondazione Italiani with the New Policy Forum is inspired by the same mission: to contribute to the freedom of expression and to promote the right to discuss ideas and positions without constraints. This conference in Prague is a wonderful example of our mission.
I am pleased to announce that in February of 2017 we plan to have the second edition the Climate Change Symposium, aimed to verify the actions taken worldwide after the Paris Agreement.
I would like to thank the Karl’s University of Prague, the IronCourtain Foundation and all the people that have contributed to this important event.
